Q - Rehearsal (Solo and Ensemble) - Program Rough Draft
Rehearsal Journal
Rehearsal Log Suggested Guidelines
Log each rehearsal by writing down the total length of the rehearsal and the tasks that were accomplished in chronological order.
Reflect on each rehearsal in a journal entry. The journal should provide a space in which you can reflect on the rehearsal you just had and consider how that might shape the rehearsal you are about to have. My suggestion is to pick a particular question/challenge/discovery and spend significant time with it (as opposed to simply reporting in on many aspects of the rehearsal). The journal truly should be a helpful step of your artistic process as opposed to Here are some questions that you might consider while writing a journal entry:
1 ) What important discoveries were made during the rehearsal?
2 ) What led to those discoveries?
3 ) Towards where do those discoveries lead?
4 ) Consider questions #1-3 except focus on important roadblocks/dead ends.
5 ) Reflect on dramatic action and conflict. How’s it going? What
actions does this suggest?
6 ) Reflect on transformational leadership. How’s it going? What
actions does this suggest?
7 ) Reflect on the journey of one or both of the actors with whom you are
working. How’s it going? What needs to happen next?
8 ) What is the most important thing that happened (or didn’t happen) in your
recent rehearsal? Unpack its importance.
9 ) What is the most important thing that could happen in your next
rehearsal? How will you shape the rehearsal in order to increase the odds
of that “thing” happening?
10 ) Consider where you’re at in the grand scheme of all rehearsals.
How’s it going? What actions does this suggest?
Your journal entries should be authentic and rigorous. They should engage both theory and practice. They should use your own examples from rehearsal and our shared vocabulary.

My solo piece is about projecting confidence, being true to myself and shining! The lyrics of the song help captivate my experience in this dance class. Although I am not the best dancer, I came to class this semester and tried my best. I am proud of myself for putting my best foot forward in this class as it is a subject out of main focus at university. This was my first elective class. I hope through this dance my audience can see my journey of dance class and how I am proud to present the final result!

The story of our group dance portrays four girls having fun. We are expressing our love for dance through a happy upbeat song. This showcases how dance class is fun and exciting compared to other classes where we sit and take notes for an hour. We enjoyed this semester together as a group and we learned a lot! Our dance will also culminate the end of a semester of learning which is also why our song is upbeat. We are proud to share with our audience our dance that we have been preparing.
