In her autobiography, ''My Life,'' Isadora Duncan cautioned her
followers. '' Don't imitate me,'' she wrote, and said that it was
necessary for them to go back to the beginning to find something in
themselves first. ''Unless your dancing springs from an inner emotion
and expresses an idea, it will be meaningless.''

ReplyDelete1- She lived a dramatic and scandalous life. She revolted against rigid ballet and enjoyed dancing for others through movements that allowed her to explore her sexuality. Had 3 children. Used dance to express grief about loss of children.
2- it amazed me how she was able to dance through her emotions not just basing her movement off of technique.
3-We should not in class be copying others because it seems right, but rather dance through what works best for ME.
4- You can notice in the piece all the dancers used all their space and changed levels a lot. It was obvious they were dancing through their emotions.
5- He strongly believes dancing is a different story for everyone and it should come from yourself and the heart. Not what the rigid ballet technique says to do.
