1-Rudolph was the founding father of dance in Europe. I remember we worked on 8 basic movements with the scales for him and basic spatial body movements.
ReplyDelete2-I know Laban was popular during world war 2 so he was influenced by the changing time period of the nazi regime as a way to escape the sadness and hard time of that.
3-Laban revolved his dancing around space and geometric figures that were almost orderly while Wigman based her dance movements solely off emotions and expressionist movements.
4-Wigmans dance was expressionist because she rejected the technique and basic movements others thought was required to dance. She danced only through her emotions and what she felt not focusing on the figures she was making and if her technique was proper.

6- She was fascinated by the Elgin marbles and wanted to dress as this ancient culture did to show her body while she danced.

8-Im not sure but I remember seeing the green Table as a piece that a group of men came together and looked as if they were dancing the concept of death. I think it would be an important piece in the evolution of modern dance because it developed a new concept of dancing to symbolize darkness not just to entertain people with joyful, technical dancing.
9-These movements have made me aware of being able to dance certain moves to show any emotion as well as different levels and directions I can make and my spatial awareness.
